Pumpkin Pancakes

I made pumpkin pancakes this morning, since after all it is fall now! They turned out pretty good, a little sweeter than a normal pancake and they didn't have an overwhelming pumpkins flavor, which was nice. Madelyn hasn't been too interested in fruit lately, so I figured this is a good way I add a little something (aka vitamin A) to her pancakes without her noticing too much. Here is the recipe if you are looking to get into the fall spirit. http://m.instructables.com/id/How-to-Make-Pumpkin-Pie-Pancakes-From-a-Mix/
Side note: I think pumpkin spice lattes come back at Starbucks starting tomorrow, which I am very excited about. :)

Froggy

Someone likes pretending to "hop like a frog" haha, this pic cracks me up. We have also been playing outside more since it is getting a little cooler! I need to post another update soon, she is walking and talking up a storm! Her favorite words/ things these days are the "moooon", "boots", "baby", "Coopie" (her cousing who she loves), and her newest obsession is sitting in her crib with her dolls and animals, of course with mommy in the room. She has also started calling Dave "daddy" which is so sweet.

9 month Highlights

9 months old!

Got to go swimming this month. :)

Mom finally realized all I really want is to play with her kitchen stuff, forget my toys!  This keeps me nice and occupied while she works in the kitchen.

Loves digging in drawers/baskets, especially the laundry basket!

I got a purse and the lady at toys r us have me a credit card, haha, a fake gift card!

Love swimming in my pool and also playing in it without water.  We go out on the patio in the mornings and I like to throw my ball out of the pool and say ah-oh, then mommy gets it for me.

Naps became a little more challenging this month as she started peeping out of her crib and wondering why I was leaving the room!

I like putting things on my head, random things...I get a kick out of it!

Madelyn started cruising this month.

Mom's shades are cool, I like to pull them off of her head.

Got a new ride that also turns into a walker.

Now I can really explore new things, since I am cruising.

Grandmama fixed up mommy's old high chair that had been in their barn for about 20 years!  Fourth of July at grandmama's house I got to sit in it and eat one of my favorites, watermelon!

Love to walk with help, it is my favorite! I actually took a few steps this month!
Getting Daddy some boots for Father's Day.
Madelyn had a big month this month!  She took her first steps on July 7, took 4 steps to mommy.  Her record is 7 steps, but she still mostly just likes to walk with help.  She does not like to crawl at all, really skipped this all together, she will scoot to mommy, then stand up so I can help her walk.  She started saying "dough" for dog, "sh-sh-sh" for shoes, "bye bye" and can wave or say "hi", says "ah-oh" really clear, "ba" for bath, "bow" and can take out her bow when asked, "k-k-k" for cup.  She is really a talker!  It is so funny to watch her talk to herself when she reads or is playing by herself, she just jabbers and jabbers.  She can definitely identify mom and dad now, even though I have thought she could do this for several months...it is clear she can do it now.  She will pant and get soooo excited if you say "I'm gonna get you", haha, and she will try to get away.  It is amazing how much she understands.  If I say, "Do you want to go play with your letters?"  She will walk (with help) over to the refrigerator to play with them.  She is so much fun and has such a fun little personality. :)  I really tried to break her from waking up at night this month.  I just stopped going in her room, which was really hard, but after about a week she stopped waking up, which is nice!  Now she sleeps from 8:30-6:30 and still takes two naps a day, usually the first one is only 45 min and the second is 1.5 hours.  Favorite Foods: Cantelope, Peas, Mangos,  Blueberry Muffins, Ground Meat,  Puffs or Mum Mums.

Cathching Up! 8 Month Highlights

8 Months Old!

Hanging out with Daddypaw

Starting pointing this month!

Madelyn really began to LOVE standing up this month and walking with help.

Went to her first baby shower with mommy and had fun playing with the other babies there.

Got really good at drinking out of her sippy cup this month.

Still likes her walker.

Got good at making faces at mommy.

And also making faces when foods are a little sour!  Ha, she loves watermelon, not sure why she is making that face in this picture.

Ate blueberry pancakes this month for the first time and surprised mommy by eating an entire pancake!  I got the recipe from "Cooking with Joy", Joy Bauer's cookbook.  It is a keeper!

This month Madelyn started saying "ba" for ball and "nay, nay" for no-no.  She also starting army crawling/scooting on the floor.  Other accomplishments this month:  Can put a ball in her little basketball hoop, babbling a lot more especially when reading her books, pointing, imitating sounds (ah-ah-ah), pulled self to sitting from back, almost pulling to standing.  Favorite foods: meatloaf, watermelon, blueberries, chicken, and pancakes!  Sleeping from 8 pm-4 or 6 am.  Nurses every 4 hours.

7 months old

She loves her new walker!

Loves rolling around on the beach ball!

Yay, Daddypa's fresh black-eyed peas!

I cannot believe Madelyn is now getting close to 8 months in a couple of weeks, guess this post is a little overdue, but we have been busy!  She likes keeping her mama busy and still doesn't want me too far away.  She is getting a little better about letting me go in the other room for a second if she is really engaged with her toys, but most of the time she likes me right there playing with her.
Activities: She likes her walker, outdoor swing (LOVES this and would stay in it all day if I let her :), jumper, lying and rolling on the floor, and sitting and playing with her toys.  We went to a Gymboree class today and she liked seeing all of the other little kids.  She is quite the social butterfly when she gets around other kids.  She just laughs and claps (which she just started doing a couple of weeks ago).  She also really likes feet, shoes, banging toys together, hitting the table or the hard wood floor with her hands, squealing at the top of her lungs, riding in her umbrella stroller, riding in the grocery cart, picking up little pieces of food and trying to get them in her mouth, watching mom blow bubbles and chew gum, drinking out of mom's cup, standing up with help, balls, rolling and throwing balls, paper and trying really hard to get her hands on paper and put in in her mouth before mom catches her, teething biscuits, TV (although we rarely let her watch it), phones, computer screens, our leather couch, her dresser drawers, books (just recently she started listening when I read to her, her beach ball, her walker, light switches, fans, remotes, chewing on a pacifier, anything hanging on the wall, watching the wind blow.  Those are just a few of the many things she is obsessed with at the moment! :)
Sounds/Social Interaction: She sings to music by saying "ohhhhh", says mama a lot, bababa, and is starting to make the "dada" sound under her breath.  I guess we can't officially say she is saying it yet, because it just sounds like she is whispering it.  We always try and get her to say it, so it is kind of like she is messing with us, haha.Post
Sleep: Madelyn has been staying up a little later recently.  Now is going to bed between 7-8, and is sleeping a little later, till about 6:30 which is nice (fingers crossed, but lately she has not been waking at all in the night).  She takes 2 naps/day, morning nap from 9:30-10:15 and afternoon nap around 1:30 or 2.  The afternoon nap lasts anywhere from 1-1.5 hours, sometimes 2 hours on a good day.  She doesn't really have a set schedule, just put her down for the first nap about 2.5 hours after waking up and her afternoon nap is 3.5 hours after waking from first nap.  Oh and on a side note she now sleeps on her side, tummy, or back, switches it up all night long.
Feeding: She nurses every 4 hours, and is doing really well on solids, eating 3 meals/day.  I try to eat lunch with her and sometimes we eat dinner together if I can get it all on the table in time.  She really likes mangos and still loves her cereal.  She tried black-eyed peas, carrots, green beans, peas, teething biscuits, apple juice, and puffs this month.  She is able to feed herself, or at least attempt to get the foods in her mouth, and is doing really well with textures.  Most of the food I give her is pretty thick and lumpy.  I think she is about ready for mashed table food.  I did give her a watermelon to try which she had a little bit of trouble with, I just mashed it up and I think the consistency was a little off.  She liked it out of her food feeder, though.  We are still working on the sippy cup, she can drink out of it but mostly still just likes to play with it and bang it on things.  She does well drinking out of the end of a straw.
***Firsts this month include clapping, feeding herself, imitating us when we sing and say longer vow sounds.  She is the sweetest little girl, my absolute favorite thing is sometimes before bed, after I nurse her, she will just snuggle up on my chest or give me kisses.  She normally doesn't like to snuggle, but at this time of day she sometimes will.  She likes it when I kiss her check and say boooommm, she will just laugh at this for some reason.  This always makes it so hard to put her to bed at night, ahhh, I just want to soak up every minute!

Copying

This is probably one of my favorite videos of our little sweetie. She just started copying sounds we make and will also make noise like this when we sing to her. She can mostly copy the "ohhh", "hiiii" (this one is more like i-i-i-i), and ah-ah-ah.
